It's your circus, you know... another note to self...

Had no idea what would reveal itself to me today, when I started drawing...

I think it's magical, the way much needed messages can spill out onto the page from the end of a pencil...

As I began, thought  it was silly to draw a tent & a clownish face... but I continued, in the hope that something would reveal itself.... and continued, without censorship, until I realised this is what I needed to remember...

... and possibly, Dear Reader, it might mean something to you as well, because you're reading this...

I saw a circus 2 days ago...
Marvelous what the mind files away for future reference...

SSSSpring...

I've been working with the trees over the past little while... listening to their songs... admiring their clothing... revelling in the wildness of the forest, that surrounds my home...

I'm sculpting a Dryad... and if she's agreeable, I'll post her here once she's made, so you can see how she manifested... but not yet... she wants to be kept under wraps, as today I attempt to show her face...

Wishing you all the magic of the turning of the seasons... may your trees and mine live without fear, may wisdom prevail, and may we All live in peace...

Day 16 - mandala a day- "Clown"

"Clown" - in the great "Circus of Life"...

Just as I carefully added my finishing dots of glitter, to represent joyful giving, the applicator blobbed uncontrollably... in a big messy globule... all over my initials, making a mess... my first art "disaster" in 16 days...
Or was it?
Now I wonder what I could read into that accident... I've never wiped glitter away before... always thought more is better...

Summer Sunshine Warms a Winter's day

 Hello again!
It's ages since I blogged, so thought I'd best pop in to let you know I'm still here, tapping with red, stiff fingers today, as I've just been outside, collecting fallen sticks for kindling...

Winter is biting, and I found this pressed sprig of Linden the other day, when I was looking for something else... I remember I pressed it because of its ancient, elegant form... and because it held the summer sunshine within its flowers...

Years later, it reminds me of warmth, and light, and blossoms that are also medicine...

Wondering if other people do this sort of thing too... You know, just put something away because it has some sort of beauty for them... some sort of glamour... or evokes a feeling that's not an everyday thing... then forget about it... until years later, they are reminded of its intrinsic magic...

Colour Working

Colour, which is a reflection of light, has such a strong effect upon the world, that I wonder how many people actually make much conscious use of this beautiful tool for health and happiness. Making art with colour seems like such an obvious choice, but simply playing about with colour intuitively, can be very effective in helping people alter their mood, heal their body, or focus their mind.

There are so many ways in which it may be employed to facilitate healing and restoration: engaging in chakra work, or draping the body with coloured fabric, or painting a room a certain hue... even foods influence how we feel, not just by their taste or smell, but we choose them by their colour...

Candle magic, ceremonial correspondences, symbolic use of colour... all these things are at our fingertips... if you simply focus on a particular colour with your mind, you will embody its effect... Is this "natural magic"?

Or is it "science"...  Are they really the same thing?  Does it actually matter? After all, it's just a trick of the light.....
